Diabetes affects more than 40 million Americans, and Massachusetts is no exception. Millions more are at risk without knowing it. Recognizing your risk and the warning signs early can make a real difference for your long-term health. And if you are living with diabetes or want to lower your risk, your health plan through the Massachusetts Bankers Association Group Insurance Trust (GIT) offers tools, education, and coaching to help, at no additional cost.
The costs are real. People with diagnosed diabetes have medical expenses about 2.6 times higher than people without it. In Massachusetts, diagnosed
diabetes costs an estimated $7.3 billion a year, part of $412.9 billion nationwide in 2022. Catching it early and managing it well is one of the best ways to protect both your health and your budget.

Diabetes symptoms can be easy to miss. Common signs include feeling very thirsty or hungry, urinating often, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, and cuts or bruises that are slow to heal. If you notice any of these, or if it has been a while since your last screening, talk with your doctor about getting tested.
Through Teladoc Health (formerly Livongo), two programs are available depending on where you are in your health journey.
