Resources & Strategies: Communicating GLP-1 Coverage Changes

We are here for you.

We've heard your feedback on our webinar yesterday, and we understand that the change to GLP-1 coverage for obesity is a concern for some employees, as it may set back the health outcomes they have achieved.

We are pleased that Cheryl Corman, Executive Vice President and CHRO at Middlesex Savings Bank, and Group Insurance Trust Co-chair, has volunteered to lead a working group hosted by the MBA to focus on:

  • Effectively communicating the GLP-1 obesity drug changes for 1/1/2026
  • Member support strategies and resources to help employees
  • Exploring alternatives to the GLP-1 drug and other options available for employees
  • Sharing what's working and identifying where we can do more to help employees

Our goal is to support you and help provide clear communication to employees about the change, as well as support those who will no longer have the GLP-1 obesity coverage.

The Mass Bankers group insurance plan provides a comprehensive cardiometabolic healthcare solution at no additional cost to your employees. It has shown promising results in improving population health and preventing the progression of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

You can read more about our results in the attached case study. Please contact Chad Pook for hard copies to distribute to your team.

We have also attached the public communication that BCBSMA sent to all of its clients about the change earlier this year. It outlines some steps employers and employees can take now. BCBSMA is working on materials to share with employees.
