Rent Control Ballot Proposal Member Webinar
February 12, 2026
Program Overview
A proposed ballot question would impose the nation’s most restrictive and damaging version of rent control in all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. Massachusetts voters in 1994 banned rent control for a simple reason: it doesn’t work. The ballot question would overturn this ban. This new proposal is a step back in time and will only worsen the current housing shortage.
Join Housing for Massachusetts, a coalition of Massachusetts citizens, small property owners, family-owned real estate companies, affordable housing developers, and housing advocates, to learn more about what is being proposed, the harm it will do to housing production and quality, and how the banking community can engage in this effort.
