Intro to Cybersecurity Webinar Series
February 10, 2026 - March 31, 2026
Program Overview
This 8-part webinar series will focus on the 8 knowledge areas (data, software, components, connections, system, human, organization, and society) and cross-cutting concepts such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, risks, adversarial, and systems thinking essential to the field of cybersecurity. Throughout the curriculum, we will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming both cybersecurity defense mechanisms and attack vectors, exploring AI-powered threat detection, automated incident response, and the emerging risks of adversarial machine learning and AI generated social engineering attacks. The program concludes with a capstone project requiring attendees to design their own cybersecurity plan based on the topics covered in the course.
What You Will Learn
Understand the essentials of cybersecurity in line with the Body of Knowledge concept. The course aims to build foundational knowledge across key areas, including risk management, network security, and cryptography to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Students will learn to assess and mitigate risks, secure networks and apply cryptographic techniques for data protection. Emphasis will be placed on secure software development, incident response, and understanding cybersecurity ethics.
Evaluate the effectiveness of cybersecurity training programs in reducing human errors. It allows students to assess the role of employee training in cybersecurity, exploring how well various training approaches (such as phishing simulations, awareness workshops) reduce the risk associated with human error, one of the most common cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Assess vulnerability management and patch management processes in organizations. Students will evaluate the importance and effectiveness of regular vulnerability assessments and timely patching as well as explore the challenges organizations face in keeping systems up to date to prevent attacks.
Identify challenges in ensuring data privacy compliance across global jurisdictions. Students are encouraged to compare their respective countries’ data privacy regulations with multiple data protection laws, including differences in requirements and enforcement.
