“When the Biggest Banks Panic, What Does That Mean for You?”

When Treasury Secretary Bessent calls an emergency meeting with the biggest banks in America to discuss a single AI model, the rest of the financial system should pay attention. Anthropic’s Mythos has put AI-enabled fraud and exploitation capabilities into the threat landscape at a scale and speed no institution was fully prepared for and the institutions with the fewest resources are the most exposed.

But the story isn’t just about the threat. It’s about the three compounding pressures credit union leaders are now navigating simultaneously: a rapidly evolving attack surface, rising regulatory expectations around BSA and SAR compliance, and the challenge of doing more with teams and budgets that haven’t grown to match the moment.

Drawing on her experience inside J.P. Morgan, Wells Fargo, and UBS — and the work FiVerity does with credit unions and community banks every day — Meghan Sutherland will walk through what this arms race actually means for institutions like yours, and where the real opportunity lies for those willing to fight back differently.
