Breakouts Specialized breakout sessions are integral to the upcoming program, providing a crucial component. Special Events
- A shotgun golf tournament supporting Mass Bankers PAC and Mass Bankers Charitable Foundation, will be held at Miami Beach Golf Club on Thursday, May 2 at 8:30 a.m. Originally opened as Bayshore Golf Course in 1923 as part of pioneering developer Carl Fisher's ambitious Alton Beach subdivision that was designed to lure wealthy winter residents from New York, Indianapolis and Detroit. It has become the elegant and highly regarded Miami Beach Golf Club. The greens fee is $285.00 for the round (fee includes use of practice facility, range balls,cart and breakfast), plus a $100.00* contribution to the Mass Bankers PAC .
- Join us on Thursday evening for Mass Bankers Margaritaville! The Opening Dinner will provide an opportunity to connect with fellow attendees, speakers, and MBA staff in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. As we gather to kick off this exciting event, we are eager to share in the camaraderie and enthusiasm that defines our community. This event promises to be a delightful precursor to the enlightening sessions and experiences planned for the convention. Dress is casual.
- On Saturday evening, join us for a Night of Celebration. An unforgettable evening as we bid farewell to an extraordinary convention with our Closing Dinner – the crowning jewel of our time together. This event promises to be a celebration of camaraderie, shared achievements, and the bonds forged during our time together.

<p>Julieann M. Thurlow is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Reading Cooperative Bank and is responsible for its strategic direction and management.<br />
<br />
Julieann serves as Chair on the Board for the American Bankers Association. She is immediate Past-Chair of ABA’s Core Platforms Council; and currently serves as a member of the Government Relations Administrative Committee and Membership Council.<br />
<br />
Julie is a founding member of Alloy Labs, a consortium of banks nationally formed to innovate in the banking space and is a Director of Atlantic Community Bankers Bank (ACBB). Locally, Julieann serves on the MA Fintech Hub and is a Board and Executive Committee member of the Lawrence Partnership, the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation and the Greater Lawrence Community Health Center.<br />
<br />
American Banker Magazine has repeatedly named Julieann to its list of the Top 25 Women to Watch in Banking and the Commonwealth Institute has named Reading Cooperative Bank a Top 100 Women-Led Business for the past six years running.<br />
<br />
In addition to an MBA from the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, Julieann completed advanced studies at the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Harvard Business School’s Division of Continuing Education, and the CEO Leadership Lab at Wharton’s Aresty Institute for Executive Education. She is a proud member of the first cohort of Lawrence Leads, a cross-sectoral leadership program focused on civic engagement and social responsibility taught at Harvard Business School.</p>

Michelle Bowman
<p>Michelle W. Bowman has been serving as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System since November 26, 2018. Initially appointed to fill the remainder of an unexpired term, she was reappointed for a full 14-year term that ends on January 31, 2034. On June 9, 2025, Bowman was sworn in as the third Vice Chair for Supervision and is responsible for overseeing the supervision and regulation of depository institution holding companies and other financial firms supervised by the Board.</p><p>As the only member of the Board with banking and state supervisory experience, she chairs the Board's Subcommittee on Smaller and Regional Community Banking, and serves on the Board's Payments, Clearing, and Settlement Committee.</p><p>In addition to her work at the Board, Bowman chairs the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, an interagency body tasked with promoting consistency in financial examinations. Her international roles include serving on the Governors and Heads of Supervision group of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and as the U.S. Plenary member of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), where she chairs the FSB's Standing Committee on Supervisory and Regulatory Cooperation. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Financial Stability Institute of the Bank for International Settlements.</p><p>Prior to her appointment to the Board, she served as the Kansas state bank commissioner from January 2017 to November 2018, and as vice president of Farmers & Drovers Bank in Kansas from 2010 to 2017. Her past public service includes serving as a deputy assistant secretary and policy adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Government Reform and Oversight, as well as working for Kansas Senator Bob Dole.</p><p>Following her time in Washington, Bowman led a government and public affairs consultancy in London before returning to Kansas in 2010. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and a JD from the Washburn University School of Law. Bowman is a member of the New York State Bar.</p>

Paul Morland
<p>Dr. Paul Morland is an author and broadcaster who writes and speaks about population and the big demographic trends across the world, both contemporary and historic.<br />
<br />
Described as the 'UK's leading demographer' (Scottish Herald) and 'one of the world's pre-eminent demographers' (Mercator), Paul has written three books: ‘Tomorrow’s People’, ‘The Human Tide’ and ‘Demographic Engineering’ and his work has been translated into nine languages. He has written for and been interviewed in many of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines including the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Toronto Globe and Mail, Der Spiegel and the Jerusalem Post. He has broadcast on many outlets including BBC Radio 4.<br />
<br />
Paul has been an associate research fellow at Birkbeck, University of London, and a senior member at St Antony's College, Oxford. He lives in London, is married, has three children, and is a dual British and German citizen.</p>

Scott Hildenbrand
<p><span style="font-size:12px;">Scott Hildenbrand serves as chief balance sheet strategist and head of the financial strategies group at Piper Sandler.<br />
<br />
Previously, he was a principal and chief balance sheet strategist of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. He headed the balance sheet analysis and strategy group, working with financial institutions on balance sheet strategy development, which includes interest rate risk management, investment portfolio strategy, retail and wholesale funding management, capital planning, budgeting, and stress testing. Hildenbrand also worked closely with the firm’s investment banking group to identify and develop strategic opportunities for clients involved in mergers and acquisitions.<br />
<br />
Hildenbrand previously worked in Sandler O’Neill’s interest rate products group, focusing on developing and implementing structured wholesale funding strategies for financial institutions. He spent his first four years at the firm in the asset/liability management group. Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill in 2004, Hildenbrand worked as a financial analyst in asset/liability management at Tower Federal Credit Union in Maryland.<br />
<br />
Hildenbrand was elected to the Financial Managers Society in 2021. He also serves as treasurer on the board of directors for Liam’s Room, a non-profit organization that focuses on pediatric palliative care, a specialized approach to medical care for children with serious illnesses.<br />
<br />
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Loyola College in Maryland and a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting and finance from Gettysburg College.</span></p>
